This Web site is updated every day with new information about our dogs. Please do not email us or call our phone number to ask for 'more information' about dogs that interest you. Whatever we know about the dog is posted here. We receive about 20 - 50 emails and calls every day. It's impossible for our volunteers to work, take care of the Boxers AND answer all general inquiries that come in. You must be an approved applicant to visit a dog or contact a foster home. This is for the safety of our dogs and foster families. Click here to learn more about the adoption process.

Comments: Hello again! Abby Dabby Doo here! I'm doing much better since we last chatted. I'm finally gaining weight after much patience and upping my intake. Because I'm missing 11 teeth, Foster Mama has been feeding me ground beef and Oh do I love it! I've also been able to chew bones with some of my few back teeth, just takes me a while. I really love food. I love treats and dinner time and breakfast. I even learned to sit, just by watching the treat! Mama says I'm such a good girl. One thing I'm learning is that Mama does not need help eating her food, but it just smells so good! [more]

Comments: Ben is a playful and loving boxer. He has a heart of gold and is very gentle. He's been with his family since he was 11 weeks old, but now they are moving and are unable take Ben. He needs an active, energetic, and nurturing home. Ben has been around small children and is gentle with them, but he would do better in a home with older kids (if any) for he can get excited easily. He has lived with another dog, a cocker spaniel, for 5 years and does very well. He has never been around any other type of animal in the home. Ben is deathly afraid of fireworks, so on the 4th of July or New Year's Eve, you will find him hiding behind a couch or under a bed. [more]

Comments: Update 6/3/09: Hi! My name is Betty. I'm three years old and I was rescued Memorial Day weekend from the Sebring Animal Shelter. That is when I went to live with my foster family. I have my skin parents, two skin sisters and one fur brother named Bettis. He's a three year old male boxer who was rescued too, so he understands. According to my skin parents, I currently weigh 43 pounds, have tested positive for heartworm, hook worm, and whips, and I will need to be spayed, all of which will be taken care of over the next few months. I have a long road ahead of me, but my new foster family is giving me regular meals to fatten me up and all the love I need to get through all this and be a healthy girl. [more]

Comments: I am a fun-loving boy whose foster family loves me like their own. When I got to Florida a few months ago I was underweight, and I had to go through heartworm treatment. Now I am at full-weight and full of life. My foster family thinks I'm beautiful and thinks any family will love me. I have a foster dog sister here, and we get along great. When someone comes to the door, I'll make sure to tell you they are here. I am not aggressive at all. My favorite thing to do in the whole wide world is to go for car rides. I hope you have a place for me in your family.

Comments: Bullas was pulled from Osceola Animal Control and he couldn't be more excited to be out of jail. Bullas is skinny right now and he's going to be a big boy. He's got some young boxer energy and loves playing with his foster sister. He also loves to give kisses and to be near you. Bullas is too interested in cats to go to a cat friendly home. He has to go through heartworm treatment and will be ready to go after that.

Check back soon to see how I'm doing! .... Bullas

Comments: Buttercup really looked happy to be out of that kennel and off the streets when FBR rescued her. Tail waggin', eyes shinin', tongue kissin'!!

She is a young female that already has been a Momma. Buttercup likes other dogs and just wants to play. But she will need leash training 101. Buttercup will be looking for her fur-ever home just as soon as she is spayed and completely vetted.

Comments: Cassius is a beautiful Boxer girl that is looking for the time and attention that any Boxer wants and deserves. FBR#: F09-105

Comments: Chelsea was born the runt of the litter in August 2000, to Brutus Al Thor and Baby Face Massey. Her high energy and her demand to be the center of attention makes up for her small size, and we believe that she feels she is not a dog but one of the kids. We have enjoyed over 8 years of unconditional love and her silly ways, and while not all her traits are good, we adore her all the same. She feels that a bed or coach is the only place for her to sleep and if those are not an option, any blanket or pillow left on the floor will do just fine. She adores my 19 year old and will do any thing to sit in her lap or climb in bed with her. She travels well in a car, usually falling asleep in the front seat, and she enjoys playing in the water hose and a sprinkler can be hours of entertainment. [more]

Comments: Hi there! My name is Cobain. I'm 10 months, neutered, and up-to-date on my shots and heartworm and flea prevention. My dad is a Boxer and my mom is an American Bulldog, which makes me a Bulloxer!

Unfortunately, my owner works too much and isn't able to give me the attention I need and deserve. I have some training - I'm crate trained, house broken, and know most basic commands, like sit, shake, stay, and lay down. I've recently been outside during the day (so I wasn't cooped up in a crate while my owner worked so much) I sleep in my crate at night with no problems. Oh, and I love treats! If you say 'treat', I know exactly what you're talking about and I'll stand by you and do anything you want to get that treat! [more]

Weight: 50 pounds
Dogs: Ok
Cats: Unknown
Kids: Unknown
Contact: Paulette F
FBR#: F09-106

Comments: Update 6/27/09: DaVinci is in his foster home.

Original comments: DaVinci was rescued from a shelter by Florida Boxer Rescue volunteers. He gave us lots of kisses and Boxer wiggles. He liked all of the people he met at the Vet's office. DaVinci's so playful that his new family should probably be Boxer savy and have older kids.

Right now DaVinci needs a foster home and will be going through heartworm treatments. Fill out an application if you feel you can provide a loving heart and home to a Boxer in need.

Dexter
Age: 2 years
Gender: Male
Coloring: Flashy fawn
Weight: 40 pounds
Dogs: Ok
Cats: Unknown
Kids: Unknown
Contact: Laura S
FBR#: F09-117
Comments: Meet Dexter. He was found at an abandoned house in Collier County, lying next to the pool, with one paw in the grave. I'm sure he was waiting for the family, but they never came back. He also sat in a shelter for a week and no one came for him. When I first saw him I was astonished that he was alive and could walk. Then I noticed the bandage on his foot and was told it was from a snake bite. I was speechless for the first time in a long time. I introduced him to his new foster sister and brother. I was afraid that they might break him if they tried to play, but everything was calm, just a lot of sniffing going on. Samson, Dexter's foster brother, was so happy to have another boy in the house that the drool stretched from his jowls to the ground, and he ran in circles with his butt low to the ground in excitement. I'm guessing he was thinking with a smile, Yippy, another boy! Who won't follow me around and constantly kiss me like my foster sister Delilah." [more]

Weight: 60 pounds

FBR#: F09-104

Comments: Update 6/30/09: Diezel is adjusting well to his foster home. He now has 2 boxer sisters and is doing very well with them. He loves to run outside and play with his new sisters. Diezel is settling in nicely. He's certainly a lap dog and wants someone to be close to him. He is very loving and a super sweet boxer boy. Diezel is very good with children and actually met a cat and was curious, but he handled it very well.

Diezel is housebroken and walks well on a leash. He's working on crate training and seems to be catching on to the idea. More to come once his foster family gets to know him better. [more]

Medical Spotlight

Comments: Faith was found as a stray in Polk County. She weighed a mere 15 pounds when she was brought in. Initially, due to her size, we thought she was a puppy, but it appears she is actually 8 months to a year old. Even though Faith is a frame of bones and she could barely walk, she still mustered LOTS of Boxer kisses and tail wags. Faith's tail is natural.

Check back for updates on Faith's progress.

Comments: I met Gibbs when I drove him down to the animal hospital. He is very sweet and loving. He gets along with dogs and loves to be hugged by children. FBR#: F09-102

Comments: Update 6/26/09: Hailey is adjusting to her foster home and is a delightful female. She is friendly with cats, dogs, kids and our live-in mailman! She is housebroken, walks well on a leash, plays, eats well and wags her tail faster than any I have seen! She loves her back rubbed and licks the air when getting loved on! She's very quick with a kiss and a smile! Hailey has just had her heartworm treatment so she'll be available for adoption the end of July.

Original comments: Hailey's family moved to Pennsylvania and, for reasons unknown, were unable to take her. The potential adopter backed out when she learned Hailey is heartworm positive. She is good with children, even toddlers, and cats. More to come from her foster family.

Age: 2 years
Gender: Male
Coloring: Brindle
Weight: 50 pounds
Dogs: Ok
Cats: Unknown
Kids: Ok (older)
Contact: Samantha S
FBR#: F09-108

Comments: Hercules is a beautiful, sweet boy. He is very malnurished and has a case of hook worms, but you would never know by his playful personality. He only wants to give kisses and play. He does need some basic obedience training as he acts a lot like a puppy. Hercules will be good with older children as he is very hyper. He will be a wonderful addition to any family willing to work on his basic skills.

Comments: Update 5/26/09: Hi, I’m Hope, and for being so young, I’ve had a complicated life. I was found in a grove and couldn’t stop falling down. They thought I might be sick and wanted to put me down, but the amazing people at Florida Boxer Rescue got to me in time and took me to a local animal hospital. They found out I had trauma to my mouth and throat and gave me medicines to help me get well. Other than snoring loudly, I’m doing much better. I have a few more things to work through, but my foster mom says that I’m doing well and that I’m a good girl. I like most other dogs and think cats are fun to chase, but my foster mom and the kitty don’t agree with me. I like to chase a ball or stick, but haven’t mastered bringing it back yet. I love to wrestle and my doggie foster sister, Delilah, and I play rough and run in our big back yard every day. I’m a really happy girl and I just want someone to love me and teach me to be the best dog ever. Do you have a place in your home and heart for me? If so, submit an application form so I can come home to you and my new forever home. [more]

Update 5/14/09:Hi from Hopper! Hopper here - boy am I glad to be in my foster home. They have all kinds of toys that my foster fur brother shares. I have two baskets of toys to choose from and my favorite are the balls. I love to play fetch. Even though I only have three legs I can run almost as fast as my foster fur brother and I play just as hard. Mom and Dad say I have the sweetest face and I am a little cuddle bug. I love to cuddle on the couch with them. I can also get on the bed with everyone. Tyson (my fur foster) and I love to squish dad! [more]

Update 4/6/09: Jake is just the sweetest boy. He loves to snuggle and wiggles at the slightest touch and is always ready to give kisses. His leg is doing much better with meds and laid back activity. Jake has the run of the house when we are gone and has been completely trustworthy. [more]

Comments: Update 6/17/09: I have blossomed in my foster home with my Boxer brother and sister. I've "retired" from boxer play with other boxers but love to give them kisses. I prefer to chew on my nylabone or a stuffed toy and lounge around. I don't pull on the leash and enjoy short walks in the current heat. I am curious about other people and animals but very polite. While my foster parents are at work, I don't need to be in a crate. I just snooze on the couch all day and then greet you at the door with my beautiful natural tail! You will always know when I am happy! I don't require any training and really just need love. Because I am a "Silver Boxer," my foster mom gives me glucosamine supplements and what a difference! Age: 2-3 years
Gender: Female
Coloring: Reverse brindle
Weight: 45 pounds
Dogs: Ok
Cats: Unknown
Kids: Ok

FBR#: F09-084

Comments: Licorice is like sweet and spicy candy. She was picked up as a stray with Ruby in Citrus County. Since they both have been mommas, isn't it awesome that FBR rescued them just before Mother's Day??

Licorice is a beautiful reverse, flashy brindle. But her smooth black coat is marred with scars from her rough former life.

She is friendly and would love to give you kisses. She needs a family who will treat her like the sweet princess that she is.

Comments: I sat in a shelter for two weeks, and no one came to find me. I kept thinking someone would look for me, and when no one showed up, it broke my heart. My foster mom says I am a typical boxer boy: playful, willing to please and always ready to give lots of boxer kisses. I get along great with my foster sister and brother, know the basic commands, am eager to learn, and am 110% housebroken. My foster mom thinks I am everything someone should look for in a boxer! Mom says I have some boogie bugs called "heartworms", but I'll be good as new before too long. If you are looking for a really happy-go-lucky boxer boy, please wait for me.

Comments: I was picked up at the shelter by a volunteer and my really nice foster mom and her friend, Randy. Randy even carried me up the stairs to my new place like I was a princess..........I liked that! Anyway, my foster mom has 2 cats and after lots of sniffing and them trying to scare me by hissing and puffing up like Halloween cats, they finally gave up. One even got on the couch and took a nap with me. I'm really skinny right now because I have heartworms, but the nice doctor told me I would get to be about 60 pounds when I am all healthy again. And I will be! I'm so happy now and with my foster mom feeding me baked chicken and Buffalo meat along with my kibble, and getting me to the vet for my heartworm treatments, I will be a beautiful, healthy, happy Boxer really soon. Oh, and I heard my foster mom on the phone today telling the nice volunteer that I am very, very smart and respond well to all commands she has given me so far...........

Important Information - Please Read

Comments: Maya is a boxer mix, a stray dog that no one claimed. She is sweet, great with other dogs, kids, and cats. Maya is described as very sweet, playful, housebroken, spayed, and leash trained. The vet estimates that she's a year and a half old. She is currently on Heartguard and Frontline and has had all her shots. However, she has severe separation anxiety and probably needs to be with someone retired or who works part time or from home. Her anxiety can be very severe such that she destroyed a crate and a door trying to find her human. She acts as though she may have been abused or neglected before she was found lost in a state park.

Also, I am being treated for heartworms so it will be about six weeks before I am ready to see someone who might want me forever. And though I don't have that smushed boxer face, it only means that I don't snore loud and I don't slobber as much. But I am all boxer with kisses, wiggles, and playfulness. So I will keep you posted on my recovery so that you can get to meet me soon.

Comments: Update 5/30/09: Hi from Rocky II! I'm doing well at my new foster home. I have a mommy that loves me very much. My new step brother Sabastian the cat is fun to watch and sniff once in a while. When my foster mommy's granddaughters come over, I let them sit on me and run their toy cars up and down my back...it's like a massage...it feels good! I like to just lay around, but walking and eating time are my favorite parts of the day. Sometimes my foster mommy and I run thru the house and I get all excited and twirl around in circles; that's great fun! We go on walks in the morning and early evening so I don't get overheated. Because of my walks I have lost nearly five pounds....I need to loose more to keep me healthy and strong though! When my foster mommy goes away for several hours she just tells me to get in my "crib" and I go right in my crate and I fall asleep till she gets back. I am very happy to see her come home and I like to get hugs and lots of kisses... [more]

Comments: Ruby came to us through the SPCA. She is a very sweet girl with a natural tail. Ruby is up to date on all her vaccines and tested negative for heartworms. Cats: Unknown
Kids: Ok
Contact: Veronica J/ Janet G
FBR#: F07-032ra

Comments: Update 5/17/09: Since being in foster care, Sarge has lost more then ten pounds from simply changing his diet and greatly increasing the amount of exercise he gets. He's no slouch... at 8 years he can still walk a mile with me and still want to play at the dog park on the way home. He has some barking issues which have greatly improved with vigorous training. However, he walks perfectly on the leash, right by my side, though he still tries to protect me from anything that makes real loud noises. In the home I do not need to crate him as he doesn't do anything destructive; he is content with settling down on my bed while I am out. Inside the house he follows me everywhere, afraid that I might leave him, I suppose. [more]

Comments: Update 5/30/09: Hi everybody, TJ here! A really nice man (Foster Dad) and his friend came and rescued me from Boxer jail! Boy was I so excited to get out of there. They took me to a really great home, where so far, I’ve met a lot of nice people! My foster mom and dad always compliment me on how well I behave. I don’t make messes in the house and I am crate trained too! I like to give kisses to the neighbor’s poodle; we get along really well. I’m not too sure what “aww” means, but that’s what all my foster mom’s girlfriends say. I love car rides and snuggling in bed, but I know I’m not allowed on the couch. At first I wasn’t full of boxer wiggles, but now I can’t stop! Foster mom and dad say I have heartworms and hookworms, but I can’t wait to find my furever home! [more]

Comments: Update 3/30/09: Hi all, my name is Willie. Claire sprung me from Seminole animal services. Man was I happy to get out of there. I’m a little thin right now but my foster dad says that I’ll be back to a healthy weight in no time. He also said that I need to work on my boundaries a little. I like to walk ahead of everyone, so I pull on my leash. Foster dad told me that I am a very good boy in the house and I'm perfectly housetrained, which means that I let him know if I need to go out.

Foster dad here. Willie has a lot of good qualities. He’ll sit and wait while I’m preparing his food. He knows sit, shake, get off the couch, and he does not seem to have any issues with separation anxiety. I’ve left Willie alone with his foster sister for a few hours and everything was in the same place when I returned, with him asleep on the couch. There will be more to come shortly, so check back soon. [more]
