This Web site is updated every day with new information about our dogs. Please do not email us or call our phone number to ask for 'more information' about dogs that interest you. Whatever we know about the dog is posted here. We receive about 20 - 50 emails and calls every day. It's impossible for our volunteers to work, take care of the Boxers AND answer all general inquiries that come in. You must be an approved applicant to visit a dog or contact a foster home. Comments: Update 6/1/10: About six weeks ago I had surgery on my left hip. The doctor said I had either had a bad accident or I was severely abused. The surgery I had is called an FHO. http://www.2ndchance.info/hipsurgery.htm They removed part of my femur bone. This will stop my pain and allow me to use the leg. I may walk and run a little funny, but I will be fine. I am doing great but the vet says it may take six months for me to fully heal. [more]

Comments: Update 6/20/10: Bongo is settling into his foster home just fine! As you can see, he's a long-legged boy that really enjoys an after breakfast nap! And rope toys. Him and Petey the min-pin became fast friends and now neither one will go outside without the other. Bongo's favorite trick is High-5. As soon as he see's you reaching for the treats, or making breakfast and dinner, his right paw goes right up, sooo adorable! He's not a jumper, and he knows to stay back when coming in and out of the house, letting the leader [human] go first. He's crated 8 hours a day and is house-trained. He doesn't give kisses, but does give lots of hugs! Want a hug??? If so, ask about Bongo.

5/27/10: Bongo is a sweet, handsome, mature, gentleman. [more]

Comments: 7/14/10: Hello everyone! My name is Brae and I'm so glad to be out of Animal Control. I was there for 6 weeks! I've had a rough life, but I don't want to dwell on the negative. I've been given a second chance at life and I intend to take it and enjoy it! I was fine with other dogs at the shelter, but I haven't been too comfortable around any of the ones I've met since then. I think I just need time to adjust to life outside of the pen. I LOVE kids. LOVE LOVE LOVE them. I like to give kisses and play. I need a foster home right now, so if you have some space in your heart and your home, please contact your Adoption Committee member or apply to foster/adopt. Look at me! You won't be sorry!

Comments: Update 7/20/10: Mom says I am so sweet and a very gentle boy that loves everyone and everything. I now weigh 70 pounds and look great. The vet says I am perfect. FLBR and my foster mom care so much about me and all of the other boxers that come their way. I am a very laid back boy. I must admit, I do love my Phoebe. We play all the time, most of the time I let her be the bossy one...it's fun. We do take turns pinning each other down when we play. The other day my foster mom's Rylie and Phoebe had me pinned down when we were playing. I was surprised, because if you know Rylie...he hasn't walked in over a year and his back legs do not work. He has the doggie version of MS. So I let him help my Phoebe wrestle me to the ground. He's a cool old Boxer. Please consider giving Phoebe and me a Furever home together. [more]

FBR#: F10-092

Comments: Update 6/11/10: Hi, Brutus here. I'm really enjoying my foster home where I immediately got along with my foster fur sister and two foster skin teens. Even the cat isn't bad now that he trusts me. My foster parents say that I am a smart boy because I sit, stay, and lay down on command and walk on the leash. I don't try to get on the furniture and I put myself to bed in my crate when I'm tired. My foster mom giggles about how cute I am when I sleep because my tongue hangs out.

During the holiday my foster family had a bunch of people over for some food they cooked outside and there were little kids everywhere. They loved playing with me and hugging me. I was really nice and gentle with all of them and I even let them keep their food. The grown-ups were very impressed. [more]

I've lived with my foster brother Tyson for almost 6 months now and we have the best time playing and boxing so if you have a Boxer-boy for me to live with I'd be sooooo happy!

Update 5/6/10: Good news everybody! My kidney infection is all cleared up and I'm going to start my heartworm treatment at the end of May. By the end of June I'll be looking for my forever home and I can't wait! And I know you guys can't see it in my pics, but guess what? Comments: 7/14/10: Cool Hand Duke is a beautiful well-mannered boy with a sweet, easy-going personality. He likes to sit, stay, shake, and is great with our 2 young children. He has also gotten along well with our 3 year old male boxer. The first day we got him, he went on a boat ride and had a bath in the river and loved it. He did get out our front door (my kids forgot to close it) and came right back when we called him. He seems very loving, and is great company and playmate to our other dog. I crate him at night, and he doesn't seem to mind it a bit.

Update 6/11/10: Daisy is ready for her forever family to come and find her. She needs to be with other dogs, but no kids. She needs a firm leader, but is a sweet wiggley girl that has great manners. She's also housebroken and all that other good stuff!

4/20/10: Daisy is a lovable girl that likes other dogs but would do best in a home with no small children. She is housebroken, crate trained and up-to-date on her vetting. Daisy is getting over kennel cough and is ready for her new home. More to come from the foster home.

Comments: Update 7/4/10: General is one of the most gentle and well behaved gentleman that I have ever seen. He does not bark or make any sort of noise, he does not jump up on people or try to get on the furniture, he does not chew on anything he is not supposed to. He takes food gently when it is handed to him; however, he is likened to a Hoover vacuum since he will eat any food that has been placed in his bowl and any other bowl on the ground left sitting there. He is also potty trained and has yet to have an accident inside the house even when he is left for a long period of time.

Due to his easy going nature, he has fit into my household of both female and male dogs without any issue at all. [more]

Comments: Update 7/14/10: Hercules is doing well in his foster home. When his skin family is home he is relaxed and loves to nap. Every afternoon he enjoys playing with his two female boxer friends in the fenced back yard. Without his humans close, Hercules often becomes anxious. He is not an in-your-lap boxer, but he does need to live in a home where a human is home most, if not all of the time.

Update 2/22/10: Hey everyone! Hercules here! Thought I'd update you on how I'm doing. It's been a rough past few months, but I'm finally settling into a routine, which I very much need. [more]

Comments: Update 4/30/10: Ingo was neutered and handled it like a champ! He is now feeling much better, and guess what? His foster Mom has discovered that Ingo CAN hear! Yay!! Ingo had a terrible ear infection when he was brought in, so that may have been a part of the problem with his hearing, but he hears just fine now. This is such great news for Ingo! On a different note, Ingo has now decided that the cat looks like a super cool toy to play with, and has taken great joy in chasing him all over the house. It is safe to say that Ingo should not be placed in a home with cats. Ingo has a clean bill of health and is looking for a loving, wonderful home that will work with him on his manners and help him to be the best Ingo he can be! [more]

*Older children only...Ingo is just too big and playful for small children.

Comments: 7/19/10: Jade just spent six weeks in animal services and she is elated to be in a home where she is getting lots of attention. She is calm, great with the children, loving (loves to give kisses) and happy to be with people. Jade does not jump on people who come in nor does she even consider going out an open door. Jade needs to be vetted. She is a treasure for a family with children as she has an easy-going disposition.

Comments: Update 6/24/10: Jake is working in wonderfully with his new foster family. He is running rings around the three year old female and plays beautifully alone with toys as well. He makes himself right at home. Jake will require some vetting to clear up an ear infection and skin infection due to allergies.

6/21/10: My name is Jake and I am a happy, wiggly, playful boxer. I am 7 years old and currently live in a small apartment with my family after we lost our house. I am use to a large backyard to run and play in so this apartment thing is hard to deal with. I get along GREAT with other dogs and cats (mostly ignore the cats). I grew up with my human sister who is also 7…so I get along with kids of all ages. I love to run and play fetch. Tennis balls are my FAVORITE! I have allergies that are kept under control with Gluten free food and treats. I will miss my family dearly, but I am looking forward to being part of a new family that has the room and time to play with me.

Comments: 4/28/10: Joshua here. Thank you FBR for taking me in. I was living in an inappropriate setting. It's a sad story, but I don't want to dwell on it as I have a "New Leash on Life"!!!

I ride great in the car; I slept most of the way in a crate. Gave kisses to the FBR ladies who picked me up. What I do wish for is to be with another dog as I am non-hearing and need to take my cues from a hearing dog. Please will you consider me.

Thanks,

Comments: Update 7/14/10: Hi there, Josie here!

You can call me JoJo, that's what my foster parents call me. Of couse they also call me cling-on & shadow. I love to be with people. It has been a wild couple of months. I had to have a portion of my toe removed but you sure can't tell as it never slowed me down. The good news is it was not cancer but the result of a past trauma. My foster brothers are still trying to teach me how to play with toys, I am slowly getting it but if my foster parents look at me I drop the toy. I follow my brothers around constantly and mimic everything they do. I would love for my fur ever home to have another boxer to play with. I am good with kids, cats not so much. I am crate trained for when no human is home but love to sleep with my humans & foster brothers. I can snore with the best of them. I hope somebody will fall in love with me now that my foster parents were able to snap a picture of me. [more]

My foster mom takes me everywhere because I'm a well-behaved, calm girl. She and her girlfriends still love playing cards and having lunch... and I'm always there for both. I also hang out with the gray Persian cat when we're visiting; I guess he's OK if you're into all that fluff!! I love all humans big and small, but for some reason, I just don’t care much for other dogs or cats. And, I do need someone to remind me about my manners, in case I forget. Even if I have to say so myself, I’m quite the handsome fellow and if you saw me on a leash you would think we were headed to Westminster! Comments: 5/9/10: My name is Longoria, like the infielder of the Rays. I am a non-hearing dog who needs to be with another dog to learn from. I get along with small and large dogs as long as they aren't hyper. I am a very active boy - house broken and crate trained. I'm a sweet boy who just needs some direction. Leash manners 101 would be good for me. Sing Language 102 - as I have no clue how to sit, stay, down, etc. I would do better with older children in their teens. See, us non-hearing dogs get startled very easily and may scare a small child. I don't mean to do that, nor do my fellow non-hearing boxers!

I would love to come and play at your house if you let me. Come check me out

1/22/10: Hello everyone! It's been a while since I last updated you on how I'm doing in my new foster home. After a few trips to the vet and the support of FBR, I'm feeling great! I have what's called diabetes insipidus. It sounds scarier than it is, I promise. Basically, I don't produce enough of a hormone so I'm always thirsty, which makes me have to go potty a lot. So, the doctors gave my foster mom medicine to put in my eye, which helps me not be so thirsty or have to go potty as much. [more]

My muscle-toned body is sleek and shiny and my tail is strong, so when I wag it... well, I need to be around older kids so I won't accidently hurt them. I can't help my excitement at being out of traffic. I have good manners in my temporary home. I just wish I had my own place to be loved in forever.

On day 23, I found my voice, and now I love talking to my brother when we're outside running around. I am such a happy girl now and I'm feeling so much better. Take a look at me now. My fur is starting to come back very nicely. Since I have longer fur than most boxers, instead of being odd looking, foster mom says I am very special and unique. I'm so pretty now. I still need to get back the rest of my hair, but oh boy, I look like a million, compared to my first pictures. My legs even have hair now!

I am now a beautiful 58 pounds. Mom says if I stay around here too long, I might start looking like the rest of the family. Remember that huge kitty I told you about? He's massive..25 pounds. [more]

Comments: Update 7/28/10: Almost done with my heartworm treatment and then I can run and play like any normal boxer. I do need help with my leash walking manners. Maybe a class like 101-leash walking! I know I would learn real quick with someone who is willing to show me and have patience. There are just so many great things in this world to investigate... that's why I pull on my leash... to get there faster.

Have I told you I just love children, small dogs, not so sure about big dogs but I hate cats. I would like a home with a yard where I can run and play and burn off some of my puppy energy. She took me on a ROADTRIP and I am now in a Boxer Hotel with some great foster buddies who took me in and showed me the ropes - like where to do my business and stuff, and I listened and did well. As much fun as it is here, I know after my surgery I will need my own home that will be mine forever... and even with just one eye, I'll be loved!

Comments: 5/27/10: Upton came to us via another rescue. He was tied to a picnic table in someones backyard and abanonded. He is very sweet and just wiggles his little nub when someone comes in to see him. He is being vetted at the moment and FBR is making sure he gets what he needs. He got along great with the small dogs in the other rescue. Upton loves everybody - especially men - but whoever pays attention to him becomes his new best friend.

Upton is my name and I like hanging with the guys in the dugout! My closest friends call me BJ but I am not used to either of those name yet. Can you guess who I am? I can't wait to be adopted and be in a forever home, but for now I do need a foster home to hang out in while I put on some weight.

Comments: 6/25/10: Xander was brought in from the elements by a very kind dog loving man. Xander had been wandering stray for what had to seem like forever to him, sweet boy. Obvious to sight, this boy has gone without for quite some time. His soul needs healing almost as much as his body needs food. There is a wonderous personality in there being urged to peak out. We'll keep you posted as the bits shine through!

Off to cuddle, more soon,
Foster Mama & Xander 'arf'
