Weight: 40 pounds

Adopted: 12/24/09
FBR#: F09-222

Comments: 12/16/09: Hi everyone, my name is Yuki (you-key) - that means "snow" in Japanese. I was rescued from an animal shelter, and I took a long ride to my new foster home. I like to ride in the car; I will sleep if it's a long ride. My new foster home has a little furry girl they call a "cat"; she's cool. I like the boxers next door, but foster Mom says we can't play cuz I was just spayed and should not run and play hard for another week. That's okay with me, I've had enough puppies. I like kids and I really like people that are nice to me - I was not always treated with a kind hand. I know now I am safe and am starting to show my personality.

Adopted: 12/1/09
FBR#: F09-113

Comments: Update 8/6/09: Hi, Matilda here. First off, I must tell you that my foster dad is taking such good care of me. I've already put on 15 pounds and I'm looking pretty good! I started treatment for those pesky heartworms a few weeks ago, but they say it will take a while since I have a heavy case.

I'm really happy now, sweet and submissive (I overheard them talking!) Although I like being around people inside, I get a little spooked when I'm outside on my leash and people come around me. The vet said I had some type of trauma to my mouth because a few of my teeth are broken off, and he also found BBs under my skin. There are some bad people out there, but from now on, I'm avoiding them for sure! Check back here soon to see how I'm doing! [more]

FBR#: F09-199

Comments: 11/19/09: Tattoo is a sick boy right now but should be ready to become a part of your family soon. He is good with kids and other dogs. Even though he is not feeling well, he had nothing but kisses and nub wags for everyone at the vet! More to come as we get to know him better.

Oscar

Age: 2 years
Gender: Male
Coloring: Fawn
Weight: 65 pounds
Contact: Janet G
Adopted: 12/31/09
FBR#: F09-143

Comments: Update 11/5/09: Oscar here!!!! Want to be showered with kisses and love when you come home from work each day? I'm the doggie just for you!! I'm a fun little boy looking for a forever home to spread my love and affection. I can be goofy sometimes, swinging my toys around and being a silly dog! I love giving kisses, hanging and watching TV or playing outside. I am house and crate trained, but prefer to be the only dog in your castle! I am getting better at walking on a leash, but just get really excited when I see other people. I am good with people and love to have company. You won't be sorry with Oscar the boxer :) [more]

Comments: 12/10/09: Essie is very sweet and is excellent with the foster home's two young children. She gets along great with the resident 2-year-old male Boxer. She knows sit, lie down, and shake and is comfortable in her crate. She is only "curious" about the cat.

More to come soon from Essie's foster home.

Rocky III

Age: 5 years
Gender: Male
Coloring: Fawn
Weight: 65 pounds
Contact: Kelly B
Adopted: 12/23/09
FBR#: F09-197

Comments: 11/17/09: Rocky is awesome. He was so happy to "get out of jail" and back into a regular home. He is getting along very well with his foster brother and sister boxers. He is crate and house trained, sits, stays, shakes. He needs to gain a few pounds. He's a pleasure to foster and he's just looking for you!

Gapper

Age: 19 months
Gender: Male
Coloring: Flashy fawn
Weight: 85 pounds
Contact: Kelly B
Adopted: 12/22/09
FBR#: F09-198

Comments: 11/19/09: Gapper is a puppy and loves to play. He knows how to sit, shake, stay and lay down. He also is great at fetching a ball. Gapper knows the words treat, bath and ride. He's getting along great with his fur foster brother and sister, and likes to sleep in his foster parents bed :) Gapper is housebroken and crate trained. More to come after the foster family gets to know him better.

Sitara
Age: 2 years
Gender: Female
Coloring: White
Weight: 50 pounds
Contact: Angie K
Adopted: 12/20/09
FBR#: F09-203

Comments: 11/22/09: Sitara is a sweet girl whose family has fallen on hard times and cannot provide the home Amara and Sitara have always had. Sitara has a cute little brown spot on the top of her head. She is crate trained and would love to cuddle with you. Sitara and Amara are littermates and are very bonded so we would like to adopt them out together. If not, Sitara needs to go to a home with another dog as she has never been without her sister and gets very stressed when they are apart. These two sisters get along with all size dogs and lived with a 5-year-old boy and cats. They like to visit the dog beach and dog park....although Sitara isn't too fond of the water.

More to come with new pictures and updates once they are settled in their new foster home.

Baby Girl
Age: 18 months
Gender: Female
Coloring: Fawn
Weight: 60 pounds
Contact: Marilynette
Adopted: 12/19/09
FBR#: F09-219

Comments: 12/16/09: Hi, My name is Baby Girl Brandy. You can call me Baby Girl. My Mom and Dad are very sad about giving me up. They have had me since I was 12 weeks old. I am a little confused now, but I know that I want my Dad to get better soon. They wanted to make sure that I go to a Boxer-loving family because, after all, I am a BEAUTIFUL Boxer Baby Girl. I love to snuggle on the couch, in the bed, with another fur-kid (big or small) and I even love skin-kids (big or small) hanging all over me. I run like the wind when I am allowed to run and I am working on my leash training. I know my basic commands and my favorite word is "cookie". My foster mom says I am a sweet Baby Girl who would fit in any home that loves boxers with lots of energy. I am ready to find my fur-ever home. Just ask for me..."Baby Girl Brandy"

Age: 2 years
Gender: Male
Coloring: Flashy fawn
Weight: 70 pounds
Contact: Laura S
Adopted: 12/22/09
FBR#: F09-221

Comments: 12/16/09: Whew! Am I glad to be out of that shelter! I was not happy with all those barking dogs and the noise. I shook so bad that the staff at the shelter let me roam around the people at the front desk and I showed my appreciation by kissing everyone over and over! Was I ever glad to see the Rescue come and get me out. I was told I am show quality as I stand and walk like a Prince. I was surprised they named me Ruckas - should be a little more eloquent to show my grand stature. Oh well, my new foster Dad said he'd fix that. I walk well on a leash and don't have any nasty worms! Foster Dad will give an update on me after he gets to see how great I really am.

Adopted: 12/12/09

Finley

Age: 13 months
Gender: Male
Coloring: White
Weight: 70 pounds
Contact: Amy R
Adopted: 12/7/09
FBR#: F09-144

Comments: Update 10/7/09: Finley is an energetic - but not uncontrollable boxer. With a clean bill of health, Finley gets about 45 minutes of run/walk time 3 days a week, (which he loves), and he plays out back with our 2 resident boxers daily. He loves to play catch, or anything- ball, frisbee, shoe, whatever!!! He is loveable yet does not go out searching for effection. Finley is also mischievous; yes, he needs someone who will crate him when away, and keep a good eye on him when at home. Finley is not food agressive, or dog agressive, but he does not care for cats and lizards. He is potty and crate trained (he absoluty needs a crate because this is where he prefers to sleep). Finley needs a playmate, he will do best in a home with another boxer. [more]

Diego

Age: 6 years
Gender: Male
Coloring: Fawn
Weight: 65-70 lbs
Contact: Marilynette
Adopted: 12/5/09
FBR#: F09-212

Comments: 12/8/09: Diego was described by personnel at Animal Control as being a jolly boy and that he certainly is, as they all received good-bye Boxer kisses when he left. He settled himself right in to his foster home and was very good with the children. Diego has some scarring on his back from an old injury of an undetermined nature, but it does not seem to bother him. More to come from his foster home once they get to know him a little better.

Bruno

Age: 4-6 years
Gender: Male
Coloring: Flashy fawn
Weight:
Contact: Sandy C
Adopted: 12/2/09
FBR#: F09-175

Comments: 10/13/09: Hi, I'm Bruno! I am a fun loving pup who will give you a lot of love. I give my new foster parents kisses all day long. My foster family has a girl boxer here and we get along great. I am not aggressive at all. Even when my foster master plays rough with me I never growl, or even show any signs of being mean. I just like to play! I can understand commands very well. I was a stray that was picked up on the side of the road, but I must have been trained very well, as I am a very good dog. My foster family says that I am one of the best dogs that they have ever had. I like them too. One thing my foster family really likes is that I don't get on the furniture. I guess that is kinda rare. I am a low maintenance dog so far for them. I hope you can find a place in your family for me.

Cassie

Age: 18 months
Gender: Female
Coloring: Flashy fawn
Weight: 55 pounds
Contact: Angie K
Adopted: 11/13/09
FBR#: F09-169

Comments: 10/5/09: Cassie is a little confused at her change of circumstances but is relishing the freedom of a fenced yard in which to run and play. This young girl was very sweet and gentle with the children she has met since being in rescue and is responding to the attention of her foster home. Cassie just wants to be part of her family and if that family includes another boxer it would be even better! Cassie will need to be spayed before she is ready for adoption. More info to come!

Rowdy

Age: 6 years
Gender: Male
Coloring: Fawn
Weight:
Contact: Veronica J
Adopted: 12/5/09
FBR#: F09-182

Comments: Update 11/10/09: Rowdy is a sweet boy who has a skin infection that needs to clear up before adoption. He hopped into my car and right into the crate. He slept the whole way.

More to come from the foster home once he settles in.

Foxy

Age: 3 years
Gender: Female
Coloring: Brindle
Weight: 34 pounds
Contact: Renee S
Adopted: 12/2
FBR#: F09-163

Comments: Update 10/20/09: Foxy has improved greatly with her self confidence. She knows when she has to be in her crate and when she needs to go outside. She hangs out with the "pack" but will occasionally lie down by herself. She would love a playmate around her own age. She gets the wiggles outside and starts to jump around in circles to engage the other dogs in play. She is less selective with treats and will take them from your hand now. She is ready for her forever home, preferably with another boxer, but not necessary.

Update 9/28/09: Foxy is very timid and we are working on her self confidence and hanging out with the "pack". [more]

Hopper

Age: 2.5 years
Gender: Male
Coloring: Fawn
Weight: 55 pounds
Contact: Paulette
Adopted: 12/1/09
FBR#: F08-186ra

Comments: Update 11/22/09: Hopper here... Good news everyone. My foster parents are going to adopt me and keep me furever. Just waiting on mom to finish the paperwork. This Thanksgiving I have so much to be thankful for and Christmas is going to be the best ever. Thank you to all my friends at the Florida Boxer Rescue. I am one happy boy.

Update 6/1/09: Hopper is doing very well...putting on some needed weight and loving life. He needs a family with another dog his size (no small dogs). Hopper likes to be the alpha dog in his pack.[more]

Princess Seanna
Age: 3 years
Gender: Female
Coloring: White
Weight: 65 pounds
Contact: Angie K
Adopted: 11/30/09
FBR#: F09-201

Comments: 11/20/09: Hi, my name is Princess, but I haven't been treated like a Princess. I have had several litters of puppies. I am very cautious about every movement; if you touch me and I don't know it, I jump. I slink down if you put your hand over my head. I can't go for walks because I get so afraid I start shaking and won't move. On the plus side, I have adapted well to my foster boxer brother and the two kitties. I like to play, but am unsure how much I can play before getting into trouble. I like to play tug with my foster brother, but he gets a little grumpy if I get too close to his face. I am well behaved, but still need to go through basic training 101. I don't know any commands, but am eager to please. Basically, I am a beautiful white boxer lady that just wants some attention and love and someone who will be patient with me as I get more confident and reassured that I will not be harmed. [more]

Cash

Age: 5 years
Gender: Male
Coloring: Flashy fawn
Weight: 95 pounds
Contact: Sandy C
Adopted: 11/28/09
FBR#: OS09-034

Comments: 11/22/09: Cash is a good boy and he will do great with a family that has older kids that he can play with and not accidently hurt as he is a very large boy. He is also loving with smaller children, he just does not know his own strentgh and plows them over. He loves to chase a tennis ball so he will need to be in an area he can run around. He loves his crate and his bed.

Cash here...please help me find a new forever home!

Comments: 10/20/09: Hi, my name is Swamper and I am a real good looking boy and I love to ride in the car. Me and my sisters (Paramore and Keeley) came in together. Not much info on us except we give great kisses and ride well in the car. We were given up by our owners but they didn't tell Florida Boxer Rescue much about us. Harley

Age: 3 years
Gender: Female
Coloring: Brindle
Weight: 42 pounds
Contact: Samantha
Adopted: 11/23/09
FBR#: F09-200

Comments: 11/20/09: Harley is a petite little girl who is very sweet, gives gentle little kisses and rides well in the car. She likes other dogs and is somewhat scared of kitties. She seems to have had multiple litters of puppies and is ready to be treated as the princess that she is. More to come after she is vetted and gains some much needed weight.

Zeus

Age: 3-4 years
Gender: Male
Coloring: Fawn
Weight: 64 pounds
Contact: Samantha
Adopted: 11/22/09
FBR#: F09-188

Comments: Update 11/17/09: Zeus is a very gentle boy. He loves to play with his three foster brothers. He has some basic training like sit and shake, but needs a refresher course with being on the leash. He was around a lot of adults and children of all ages at the adopt-a-thon and had no issues with jumping on people. He greeted every person and dog equally with wiggles and kisses. A little dachshund nipped at Zeus and he just looked at him like it was no big deal.

10/29/09: Zeus is a good boy, full of energy and ready for a family. More to come as his foster family gets to know him better. [more]

Age: 2-3 years
Gender: Male
Coloring: Flashy brindle
Weight: 55 pounds
Contact: Samantha
Adopted: 11/18/09
FBR#: F09-186
Comments: 11/10/09: Tyson's Journal Entry 11-09-2009

There are still bite marks in my neck that are healing and scars on my legs. I might have been what humans call a "bait dog" but no one knows for sure. I rode quietly in a car today. The lady driving told me what a good boy I was and I gave her some gentle kisses. She said my coat was gorgeous, besides the obvious neglect I have suffered. She dropped me off at what she called a "vet's office." I am sleeping here tonight until the doctor can see me. Maybe I can sleep with someone like you tomorrow.

Allie

Age: 2.5 years
Gender: Female
Coloring: Fawn
Weight: 47 pounds
Contact: Terri F
Adopted: 11/20/09
FBR#: F09-177

Comments: 10/27/09: Allie is a shy, sweet little girl who can melt your heart with her eyes and wiggles.

10/20/09: My name is Allie, and at 2.5 years old, I have been a mother 4 times. I was so worn out that several of my puppies died, and I was discarded. Now that I am getting healthy, I can run like the wind and hold my own when boxing my foster brother who weighs 72 pounds. There are lots of toys here, and I love the squeaky ones best. Mom says I am a "tiny girl", and shy until you get to know me. I want TONS of kisses, and think I should be right next to you on the couch, or on the bed. I am so cute, Mom has a hard time telling me to get down. She says I have the most expressive eyes and am very smart. Did I tell you cats love me?? I guess that is because I am non-threatening and do not chase them. If you are looking for a tiny shy girl, who is a real lover, my name is Allie.

Gracie

Age: Adult
Gender: Female
Coloring: Fawn
Weight: 57 pounds
Contact: Veronica J/ Janet G
Adopted: 11/18/09
FBR#: F09-124

Comments: Update 9/9/09: Gracie is looking for a foster or adoptive home. She needs someone home with her, so a stay-at-home, work-from-home, or retired human would be just right. If you think you're the perfect fit for Gracie, submit an adoption application today!

Update 8/10/09: Gracie is a very sweet girl with a lot of love to give. She is crate trained, does well with other dogs and cats, and LOVES LOVES LOVES to play fetch with her favorite ball. She is a lover who likes to cuddle, but very active when you will play with her. She enjoys going to the beach and swimming, and chasing after her ball of course. She is looking for a loving home to treat her like the princess she is. [more]

Bear

Age: 5.5 months
Gender: Male
Coloring: Fawn
Weight: 25 pounds
Contact: Claire G
Adopted: 11/18/09
FBR#: F09-170

Comments: Update 10/14/09: Bear is a lovable, wiggly, inquisitive puppy. He came from a puppy mill where he lived outside with his father. He has demodex but is responding very well to his medications. Bear loves to wrestle with our elder boxer. He walks well on his leash, knows how to sit and will do this automatically whenever the refrigerator door opens! He sleeps on his back and snores! He loves children, frogs, and lizards. He is living with cats and learning to respect them and their space. This is currently a challenge, but he responds very well to 'NO' and I'm sure this will become easier as he spends more time with them. He is not aggressive, he only wants to play! Bear will need to be neutered once his skin has cleared up. He hopes to spend his first Christmas with his forever family! Since he has never been an only dog Bear will need to be placed with an active stay at home family or with another dog willing to play. Can you imagine this little guy helping open gifts on Christmas morning? He will be a wonderful addition to your family. [more]

Duke

Age: 6 years
Gender: Male
Coloring: Fawn
Weight: 36 pounds
Contact: Janet G/ Veronica J
Adopted: 11/17/09
FBR#: F09-178

Comments: Update 10/22/09: Hey, Duke here, and no I don't do bake beans ;-) But I am the mightiest mini boxer you will ever meet. Think you can keep up with me? We'll see - I'm fast - real fast like the wind. Watch out lizards, watch out tennis balls, I'm a coming for you! I come in a neat little package weighing 36 pounds. Just right for apartment living with weight restrictions. Better hurry up - I won't be around for long.

10/20/09: Duke came from Lake County Animal Services. Not too much is known about him, but the staff at the animal hospital says he is very, very sweet. They gave him a mighty name for a very petite boxer. Duke is on the small side but the staff called him "little man". As soon as Duke finds a foster home, more information will be posted.

Evie

Age: 9 months
Gender: Female
Coloring: Fawn
Weight: 40 pounds
Contact: Susan K
Adopted: 11/16/09
FBR#: F09-174

Comments: 10/13/09: Evie was born on Christmas Eve. Evie's previous family was not able to give her the love and attention she needed to flourish so they decided it was best for her to find a new home. Even though Evie has spent a lot of time alone with little training she is a good girl that just needs to be given direction. She gets the concept of going outside to do her business, we just need to polish the skill a little. She loves to play with with her little foster sister and two big foster brothers and she loves attention from her foster mom and dad. Evie would love to find a new forever home that will give her love, attention and training so that she can be the best girl ever.

Adopted: 11/16/09
FBR#: F09-154

Secret

Age: 4 years
Gender: Female
Coloring: Flashy fawn
Weight: 60 pounds
Contact: Claire G
Adopted: 11/15/09
FBR#: F09-032ra

Comments: Update 10/8/09: My enrollment name is Secret but I lovingly answer to Shyla, the name I got from my last home. I have been told I am a very sweet girl with a calm disposition, "very laid back", but yet I can run for the ball and drop it at your feet and run again. Oh, I also sing with the ball in my mouth but you have to come visit me to see me perform. I also love chasing lizards! I get an A+ in home manners as I don't tear anything up and my foster mom has given me my own "room" with a bed so I am furniture spoiled. But if you take me in and don't want me on the furniture, you will just need to teach me stay off. I really like kids, but other dogs and cats....not so much. Mom says I need to be the only dog and that is how I do best. So please consider me to be part of your family and I promise that you will get lots of love, attention and licks from me. [more]

Comments: 11/12/09: My family has a new baby and is not able to give me the attention I need. I live with several children and love them. I like most dogs but do not care to go to the beach as those dogs are my least favorite. I am not familiar with cats so I don't know how I would do with them.

Comments: Update 10/17/09: Hey everyone, man the last couple of months have been a wild ride!! I have been helping my foster family with a little boy boxer. They called him "Dude". He was just a baby, but I helped Mom with everything; I taught him how to box like a real Boxer. I let him play with my toys and sleep in my bed, and even let him chase me around the yard. I would slow down every once in a while so he would think he caught me. We really had some fun.

Foster Mom here, well folks, it just goes to show this little girl has a whole lot of love to give. She was such a patient teacher for Dude, and showed us her many talents. This girl plays like a 3 year old, but has the maturity to know when to chill out. She will be a wonderful addition to a loving home. Is this home that she is asking for yours?

I haven't seen any cats or children yet so I am not sure how I will be with them. But I'll let you know! I am housetrained and know how to use a doggie door to go out. I have been taught how to play and eat nicely and then get lots of attention. I did have a little surgery today so I won't be adding any little babies to this world, but I am told I will be a great companion to anyone who will love me. I'll send you an update soon if I am still available as I won't last long! I am a real keeper!

Comments: Update 9/27/09: Do you have a tiara for me? OK, a diamond collar? I guess a girl can settle for a collar with crystals or rhinestones. I'm Lady and I'm a princess. I am absolutely gorgeous, have one blue and one brown eye, and really like my new brothers, Jake and Brutus. I get super excited when I come out of my crate, but after a nice prance in the yard or walk through the neighborhood (I'm a pro at walking on a leash), I calm down. A four years young girl like me has to get her energy out and keep her girlish figure! My foster mom (Really she's my lady in waiting) says I am potty trained and will listen to a calm, strong voice when need be. She also says even though I know how to sit beautifully, I could use more etiquette training and that I should be easy to train because I listen so well. Don't you have a place in your castle for a princess like me? [more]

Check out Lulu's flight with Pilots N Paws

Comments: Update 9/25/09: Usually, one of our volunteers will pick up a dog and drive the dog to the vet or foster home. Florida Boxer Rescue has volunteer foster homes as far south as Ft. Myers, north to Ocala and as far east as Edgewater, FL. Times are hard for everybody and gas is expensive. Most of our foster homes already have one or two dogs.

On Friday, September 18th, Lulu was on an Angel Flight courtesy of Pilots 'n Paws. They are volunteer pilots who fly animals in need to a second chance at life. Lulu's journey took her from Ft. Myers to Hernando County Airport in Spring Hill, FL where her foster family met her. Lulu is now snugly in her new Foster Home. It was a great flight!! Joe, the pilot was the nicest guy. I swear he had a tear in his eye when he had to say good by to Lulu. She is a good kisser.

He never did and last time I saw him he had some new silver bracelets. Thankfully the nice people at the shelter contacted FBR to come rescue me. I'm a pretty goofy guy. Laid back for my young age, but don't get me wrong, I love to play boxer style. My foster mama doesn't have skin kids so we'll have to see how I like them when we go for walks. But I love my foster fur siblings! Even the bossy one. She keeps me in line. I have Demodex, which will take about a month to get rid of. Yet less than two minutes later, he will come in the house as if nothing has happened. He is smart and knows his commands. However, if he does not agree with it, he will ignore it until you call his name. Then he will look at you as if to say "me, do you mean me?" He is somewhat of a barker and loves to run and jump straight up especially when another animal is outside of the fence. He tries to play with the cats, but has never harmed one. We get along great. I was told I was picked up as a stray in Osceola County; I have since been spayed, bathed and to the vet, in that order. I do not have any intestinal worms, but I did test positive for heartworms. My treatment for that should be starting sometime in the next week or so. When I came into rescue, I was in pretty rough shape. I was not spayed, I had every parasite imaginable in my poor little emaciated body. Everything I ate literally went right through me. Because of that, I couldn't gain any weight, was lethargic and just wanted to lay around. Comments: Poor Pauly! He was hit by a car in St. Petersburg on Tuesday and his family brought him to a vet's office to be surrendered to the SPCA. Lucky for him, FBR rescued him Friday and he will be evaluated by an orthopedic vet on Monday, as his front-left leg is broken. His vaccines have been brought up to date but he still needs a heartworm test and to be neutered. He's 2 years old, and as you can see, he's beautiful! He just arrived at his foster home hours ago, but has shown good house manners, has been friendly towards the resident miniature pinscher and wasn't overly interested in the cat--who made 3 fleeting appearances! Please keep checking back on Pauly's progress as more will be posted as we get to know him and learn more about the condition of his leg.

~Rex~

Original comments: My family tells me that I have the sweetest disposition and that I have Marlon Brando eyes - whoever he is. Also, I am being treated for heartworms so it will be about six weeks before I am ready to see someone who might want me forever. And though I don't have that smushed boxer face, it only means that I don't snore loud and I don't slobber as much. But I am all boxer with kisses, wiggles, and playfulness. So I will keep you posted on my recovery so that you can get to meet me soon.

Comments: Update 7/31/09: It is now later and I have since started my heartworm treatment. I wasn’t feeling good the first week and did not want to eat a lot, but my appetite has come back and now I am just tired of being tired. I really want to go outside and run the yard a couple of times and burn off some energy. Mom and Dad have to really keep an eye on my because I try to sneak outside any chance I get. I know it is for my own good, but man am I bored. I even tried running in the house a couple of times when I thought they weren’t looking, boy did I get in trouble. I like my crate but not that much. That’s all for now so keep my in your prayers. I am getting better and better every day. Betty

Update 7/6/09: Hi! Betty here after the fourth weekend, just checking in. Boy am I feeling a lot better. [more]

Someday I may even return them! I enjoy wrestling with my foster sister, Delilah. So far, I’m good with most other dogs. I’m a happy girl and I really just want someone to love me and be my own family. If that's you, I promise to always greet you with happiness when you get home and give you lots of kisses. Comments: Heeeere's Casey! And she's a well-behaved, 39 pounder. Her family is caught in the crunch of this economy and felt it was best for Casey if she was re-homed. She is being spayed and vaccinated on 8/21 and will be ready for her fur-ever home--pending Heartworm test results. Casey rode well in the crate on the ride to the vet. She's mostly house broken and has been crated 6-7 hours a day while her humans were at work. She had young skin-sisters and was great with them. She didn't live with other dogs but would play with everyone from Pugs to Great Danes at the dog park. She has never seen a cat so we're not sure what her reaction would be. She knows sit, stay and speak commands. Casey appears to be a happy-go-lucky puppy girl and would benefit from some formal obedience training at her age. Hurry up, she won't last long!!

Comments: Hi, I'm Bruce Willis but everyone just calls me Bruce. I'm a little guy who loves to ride in the car and I don't even take up much room. I'm shy around men at first but warm up quickly. My former owner had a sick relative and was unable to spend the time with me that every Boxer needs. We met a nice lady and her son from Florida Boxer Rescue and I showed them that I'm great on a leash, only bark softly when I play, and I even High Five when you ask. I can't wait to meet my new family.

Comments: Poor Lorenzo just wants to give you a kiss. He wants to give you one so badly that he will stand on his back broken leg just to get to your face. His former humans took excellent care of him and were devastated when a simple accident turned into a broken leg that would need expensive treatment. Giving him up was the hardest thing they had to do, but they knew Florida Boxer Rescue could give him the care he needs. Lorenzo will get the treatment he needs, but the expense is hitting us hard. The summer months have depleted most of our funds. COULD YOU PLEASE HELP LORENZO GET THE SURGERY HE NEEDS? A DONATION OF ANY AMOUNT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED IN HARD TIMES LIKE THESE.

Thank you to the following people for their generous donations towards Lorenzo's medical care:

Comments: Update 8/6/09: Hey it's me... I bet you thought I found my forever home already... wrong. But maybe if you are reading this it can be you. Foster Mom and her FBR friends wanted me to give you a little update about myself. My previous people said I got in the trash, had no manners, and walked terrible on the leash. These FBR people think that they were wrong, wrong, wrong. I have shown no signs of getting into the trash. I also listen when told to sit and various other commands. As far as the leash walking thing... that may be a little true, but Foster Mom is working with me on that and I am getting better every day... although you're going to have to continue to work with me on that (cause you're really going to want to adopt me). Adopted: 8/15/09
FBR#: F09-130

Comments: Update 8/10/09: Herman went visiting and met a cat and two boxers. He looked at the cat, then walked all around her with his nose trying to figure out where her food bowl smell was coming from. He got nose to nose with her, she hissed, his tail was wagging, and then he went looking for the food bowl again. Herman had a great time running around with his new boxer friends.

Original comments: Herman is a wonderful young boy that was rescued from a shelter. He is house and crate trained, gets along wonderfully with his two foster boxer siblings, and will have fun gaining a few needed pounds. He has a natural tail and huge underbite that just add to his very loving personality. What a great kid!

Comments: Update 5/11/09: Bill is just a big love bug. He will follow you around the house, lay on your lap, and sleep in bed with you. He is what anyone would expect from a dog… the fun-loving goofball that just wants to play and cuddle, to the security guard that will scare away any unwanted visitors from your home. He is very well trained, walks good on a leash, and does not try to escape the yard. He is great with other dogs, big and small, and children. He barks when someone comes to the door and gets up in the middle of the night if he hears something that doesn’t sound right. The cats turned out to be a big no-no, so he needs a home without cats. Comments: Update 7/7/09: My foster mom found the neatest toys under the couch! I'm not sure why she would keep toys under the couch since you can't play with them there. But my "inner puppy" came out when I heard that toy SQUEAK! I LOVE SQUEAKY TOYS! I love walking around the house and just making them squeak! My foster mom will sometimes play fetch with me and I will run to get my squeaky toy before my foster brother and sisters do! (There are three of them so I have to be quick!) I chew on them so much that I wear them out, but then Mom always finds more under the couch. It must be a magical couch! I just need love and SQUEAKY toys to find my forever home! [more]

He is light positive and will only need to take Heartguard once a month for 6 months YEAH!!!!!. So he is ready to go to his forever home next week. Now on to the good stuff about this gorgeous boxer boy. He is so pretty as only a true boxer lover can know. He does behave like a boxer with all the wiggles and jumps and slurps you could ever want. But this boy is very smart and is learning more everyday. He is a champion walker on a leash and is placing well at the door. Comments: Update 8/2/09: Jiro here! Boy do I love my foster home! My foster mom has almost got me potty trained (except when I race out of my kennel...sometimes I get so excited I don't make it to the door). I have two foster siblings, Molly and Beamer. Beamer puts up with me but that Molly...she plays a mean game of tag! We LOVE running in the backyard together really, really fast. My foster parents think I would do best in a home with a fenced yard and maybe a fur brother or sister to help get some of my puppy energy out!

Original comments: Jiro is a typical, energetic, kissy Boxer puppy. He is almost potty trained and does well in a crate. He LOVES to play with his foster sister, Molly. His new family will need patience to train this loving boy. More to come as we get to know him better.

Update 8/8/09: Presley is a delightful boxer puppy! He is doing well with the resident male and female boxers in his foster home. He also is doing great with the cats. We are working on his potty training. He goes into his crate without any problem at all. He is such a good puppy. He does like to play hard with my dogs (he really wears them out) so a play mate would be a plus. He will need leash training. And of course he is ready for puppy school 101. Her black coat makes her classy but she can be boxer goofy at times. She walks well on a leash and will either lie at your feet or in her crate. Currently she is crated while her foster mom is away. All she wants is to be loved. She would make a great addition to any home.

Hercules is a very happy and loving boy, full of kisses and wiggles. He is full of energy, likes to run and play fetch. He does know a few voice commands, like sit and stay (well sort of) and shake. He very much likes his 8 year old niece, but he doesn’t quite realize his strength so he would do better with children just a little older. Like most boxers, he really loves his people and wants to please them. He is very attentive to you and returns your effort with him seven-fold. Hercules has finished his treatment for hook worms and is now gaining weight. He is ready and raring to be adopted. Hercules just needs someone to let him know what is expected of him, he wants to please, just let him know how. He will surely bring lots of joy to someone ready to be immersed in Boxer Love. Comments: This timid young lady was surrendered by her owner with a lump on her hind leg that they could not afford to tend to. The shelter had it removed and was it was benign! She was too sweet to stay in the kennel, so she was allowed the run of the shelter with her caregivers.

Weight: 42 pounds
Contact: Kelly B.
Adopted: 6/20/09
FBR#: F09-091

Comments: Update 6/9/09: Pixie is settling in quite well. She may be a petite boxer, but she has a huge personality. She loves to cuddle and can actually fit in your lap. She gets along well with her fur foster brother, as well as two cats. I don't have young kids, but with her loving demeanor, I don't see Pixie not enjoying the company of children. If you're looking for a huge loving heart in a compact boxer body then Pixie's your lady.

Original comments: Pixie was found alone and scared on the streets of lakeland. She is a sweet girl that loves everything. More to come from her foster home.

Sprite
Age: 2 years
Gender: Female

Weight: 52 pounds
Contact: Lori
Adopted: 6/20/09
FBR#: F08-169

Comments: Sprite is a tiny little girl that was left tied up at Orange County Animal Services in the middle of the night. She does have her hearing but is missing most of her hair at this time. Sprite does not have demodex so we are hoping it is due to poor living conditions and nutrition. Until we get the sores healed and the skin problem under control she will not be available for adoption.

Sprite has been progressing so well that she is no longer on the Medical Spotligh page. However, you can still find her information here.

She is a young female that already has been a Momma. Buttercup likes other dogs and just wants to play. But she will need leash training 101. Buttercup will be looking for her fur-ever home just as soon as she is spayed and completely vetted.

Comments: Hi Everyone! My name is Coco, and I just got to my new foster home on New Year's Day. What a great way to start out 2009, right? We're having lots of fun so far. I have a new foster brother, Fender. He was saved by Florida Boxer Rescue just like me, so we have lots in common! I really like hanging out with him and my new foster parents. We go on walks and play outside in the backyard too. My foster Dad said I'm pretty good on the leash, except when I try to chase all the lizards, squirrels, and cats in the neighborhood. I'm not exactly sure what all these toys are for either, but Fender keeps bringing them over to me to play with. Sometimes I have to yell at him to calm down so he doesn't hurt my stitches. By the way, can these come out soon?? I don't like them at all! [more]

Comments: My name is Lucky. My foster Mom thinks I look like the German Boxers that won titles in the 1940s, except I only weigh in at 50 pounds. Mom says this makes me really cute, almost puppy-like. I am a perfect gentleman, never potty anywhere except outside, love car rides, and am a kissy boxer. Mom says that anyone who meets me will fall in love immediately. I have been told I have a perfect temperment, (I even like cats) and will follow you everywhere. If you are looking for a great boxer in a small package, I'm your guy.

Love,

Comments: Update 6/9/09: Gabby is such a sweet wiggle butt and she cannot get enough love and attention. She currently has an allergy that is being treated to stop her itching. She would do great in a home with children over 6 years old or a couple that can spend a lot of time and attention for Gabby's affection. She is truly a gem that will make a family happy.

Original comments: Gabriella is a sweet girl who was picked up from an animal shelter as a stray. She is on the thin side and protective of her food bowl, but with a little buildup of trust she should be fine. She has had no problems with her foster brother and actually enjoys the kissing and attention he gives her. [more]

Comments: My name is Journey and I have really had a wild one. One night, about a month or so ago, I forget exactly when, I was attacked by two dogs, an intact male and intact female. I don't even remember why I was out alone that night. They went after me for a really long time and all I could think to do was get away. I made a lot of noise hoping the people in the house
nearby would hear me, but I guess they had the TV turned up too loud or something. I finally managed to crawl under the car in the driveway where my attackers couldn't reach me. They finally gave up and probably went to look for somebody else to pick on. I was hurt really bad; they tore up my back end and bit me on the chest and front legs too. I never figured to wake up in the morning.

Comments: Update 5/14/09: Hey everyone, I wanted to stop in and say "HI". Man I am feeling so good now; you saw me earlier and I had really itchy skin. We got that cleared up and I love the bath my foster Mom gives me, I stand very nice and still. I have learned 7 different signs, they are, sit, stay, stop, look at me, come, outside, and good job. They are easy. My foster family said they will teach my new forever family the different signs, no problem. I love other dogs and will go anywhere with you. I walk nice on the leash and like to ride in the car.

Foster Mom here... "D" is such a sweet soul. He is very smart and has learned sign language and house rules so quickly. He does not like to be crated, he just wants to be with his skin family. He feels vibration and will react by looking for you. He also uses his nose to find you. [more]

Comments: Update 5/31/09: Hi there! This is Ike's foster mom. While he's busy playing, I thought I would tell you what I know about him now. He is such a gem of a boxer! Ike is now healed from neutering and has gained some weight. With the help of the Vet and antibiotics, he is now well from the Kennel Cough. He took his pills easily and has tolerated ear cleaner and toenail trimming very well.

Ike is now a vibrant, precious 2 year old boxer! He loves to play with our two resident boxers and is very gentle with cats. Our home does not include children, so I have no information on how he would be with them. He's a good rider in the car and a good sleeper at night. What a good cuddler he is! He is very affectionate and loves affection in return. His cheeks are very kissable! Of course, he also loves treats! [more]

Shelby has some Demodex and needs to gain some weight before she can be spayed. We need a foster home that can play with her and help her on her road to recovery before she can be adopted.

Comments: Ruby is a precious jewel. She was picked up as a stray with Licorice in Citrus County. Since they both have been mommas, isn't sweet that FBR rescued them just before Mother's Day??

Ruby is a very petite, classic fawn with a narrow white streak between her soulful eyes. She is shy but full of Boxer wiggles and dances. This true jem will be looking for a loving family that can give her the life she deserves.

However, she lived with two young children and resides temporarily with a black lab and a cat. She gets along fine and has shown no aggression for any reason. I feel so good it was hard for my foster mom to get me to sit still long enough to take a picture! I love to play with my foster brothers, Jake and Brutus. I especially like to look out the window for lizards. Did my foster mom tell you I am the best lizard hunter there is? Comments: Hi, my name is Miss Kittie. I once was a beautiful flashy brindle girl. Right now, I'm not so pretty and I smell REALLY bad! My foster family says that is changing every day.

I have had a pretty rough couple weeks, but things seem to be getting better. I was picked up by Animal Control and taken to the shelter. I was in heat, about 15 pounds underweight, and was covered with fleas. I still have demodex mange.

Since then, I have been spayed and am being treated for the demodex mange. I also got my rabies shot, was de-wormed, and treated to get rid of the fleas! The amazing thing was that I tested negative for heart worms - not sure what that is but the two-leggeds seemed really pleased that I didn't have them. [more]

Adopted: 5/14/09
FBR#: F09-081

Comments: 12/8/09: Clifford passed away today. Clifford was adopted by a loving family who gave him the best life a boxer could ask for. He was a great boy and his family thought he was near perfect. Clifford's family lost their previous dog Buck and never thought another could replace him. But Clifford found his own place in their hearts and died knowing he was very loved. He will be greatly missed.

Update 5/14/09: Clifford here! The nice man who took these fabulous pictures of me said I'm big, strong, friendly, and well-trained/behaved (and I know several commands!) Time for a foster family for me....hint, hint.

Clifford has been shuffled around. His original owner had to move and Clifford went to live with someone else. Unfortunately, his new owner couldn't keep him. Clifford thinks he is a lap dog and rides well in the car. He has been around older children and may need a slow intro to younger children.
Clifford needs to be neutered and his urniary tract infection cleared up. Check back once he gets into a foster home and see what his foster family has to say.

Comments: Update 4/22/09: Valentino has been medically cleared for adoption!!

WOW ! Do I LOVE Florida Boxer Rescue! They sprung me from a cage and let me sleep in a really comfy home. There are fun kids and fun dogs here. They also have furry things called cats. But Dad said - NO ! So I guess I can't chase them.
~~~ Valentino ~~~
Poor Valentino was found wandering the streets. The vet said that he has parasites, various infections and is heart worm positive. Valentino must have been neglected for a long time, even before he got lost, because his dew claws were so long that they curled all the way around into his pads. Well, thanks to all of the generous donations from all of you folks, FBR will treat him for his ailments. Then this handsome boy will be looking for his FUR-ever home. He will be available in May!
Comments: Update 3/19/09: Woof's new everyone? It's Nitro here! I am a brindle 6-year-YOUNG male. I love to go for walks and I'm very good on a leash! I enjoy getting a bath... I really just enjoy anything that has do with me getting a good belly and chest rub. They're my absolute favorite! Well, here's more from my foster mom. Hopefully one of you out there will come and meet me to take me home!
Nitro has been with us for a little over a week and boy is he great to have around. He is the sweetest guy! He is crate-trained, but he does get a little nervous when you first put him in there, but he settles down quickly. He is good with my 2- year-old daughter, but a home with older children would be best, as it seems he's just a little too pushy for smaller kids. And he would love to be in a home with another dog; he loves to have companionship. [more]
She also doesn't mind her foster cats. Sweet Pea loves all the loving attention she's been getting. She's house trained and doesn't like the crate
Comments: Moose was sprung from the local shelter and is a little scared. You see, his owners moved and left him tied to a tree for about three weeks before a neighbor called animal services. Luckily, the neighbor was at least feeding him during that time. This has him really nervous of all the new things around so he likes to stay right by your side. Even through all of this he goes into the crate when told, is housebroken, and doesn't seem to mind the two cats in his foster home. He is nervous around the other two boxers during play. More to come as he settles in.
He takes to the crate without complaint when we leave, as well as overnight, although he would rather sleep in bed with us. He walks well on the leash and loves going for car rides. Comments: Jake is another victim of our economy. His family fell on tough times and had to turn to Florida Boxer Rescue to help find him and his little sister a new home. Jake is a handsome boy with a natural tail that wags just as well as the little boxer stubs we are all so used to. Jake is housebroken, crate trained, likes kids and, according to his former family, is okay with cats too. He likes peppermints, too; imagine a Boxer with fresh breath!! He is your basic exuberant Boxer Boy that forgets his obedience training a little in all the excitement of life. Gentle reinforcement is all that is necessary to remind him that he is getting a little too happy. Jake needs to have a couple of lumps evaluated and probably removed before he is ready to go to his new home. Check back for more news on Jake from his foster home.
Right now I am so scared that I don't want to do those things. I heard that I have to go to the vet on Wednesday and I need to be spayed. Not quite sure about that stuff either. My foster Mom says she will write more when I settle in.
Joy
Age: 5-6 years
Gender: Female
Coloring: Fawn
Weight: 38 pounds
Contact: Claire
Adopted: 4/10/09
FBR#: F09-014
Comments: Joy is a dainty girl that needs to go through heartworm treatment before going to a forever home. For a tiny girl she does have energy and loves to play outside, and when inside she is quiet and laid back. Joy will need to add about 8 pounds to her small frame to fill out and should be ready for a forever home around mid to end of March. If you are looking for that female boxer that is a bit smaller in stature but full of enthusiasm, then you need to see Joy.
Age: 17 months
Gender: Female
Coloring: Fawn
Weight: 45 pounds
Adopted: 4/10/09
FBR#: F08-112ra
Comments: Hello, my name is Penny and I like FBR so much I'm back for Round 2! I'm a great little girl. I like people and am very affectionate. Only thing is, I wasn't given many boundaries as a puppy so I think I'm in charge right now. My new friends at FBR say that training is a must so that I can learn to be a well-adjusted boxer girl.
I don't really care about cats, and as long as I have boundaries I should be OK around older kids and other dogs. FBR has a behaviorist who is willing to work with the foster home in setting these boundaries. I look forward to having them so I can be the great boxer girl everyone at FBR knows I am!
Bozo
Weight: Unknown
Contact: Veronica
Adopted: 4/9/09
FBR#: F09-056
Comments: Bozo is 2 year old and has been surrendered with his 5 year old dad, Leroy Brown. They are being fostered together. His former owner describes him as loveable, as loveable can be. Bozo will be seeing the vet on Saturday, March 28. The foster home will provide an update and more pictures soon.
Update 4/3/09: Bozo is heartworm positive. After his treatment, which should take about a month, Bozo will be neutered.
Comments: Krystal is a gorgeous Flashy reverse Brindle. She is a real sweet, petite momma. You see, before being surrendered to a shelter, Krystal had been used for breeding. Now she has some female issues that will need surgery before she can be adopted.
Her foster family will be giving her some much needed TLC. More info to come.
Adopted: 4/6/09
FBR#: F08-115
Comments: Hi! My name is Misstree! I was pulled from a shelter in Naples. I think my black mask makes me look mysterious. It's a mystery as to why someone didn't love and cherish me, too. My foster Mom said to say my name with a heavy southern drawl and it sounds just like mystery! [more]
