Submitted on June 18, 2008: Adopter: Myra Boxer's Name: Zoe (2001)
"We adopted Zoe from Florida Boxer Rescue in 2001. Originally she was our foster dog, but we knew we wanted to adopt her shortly after her arrival. Now she is becoming an old lady, but still loves to play with the children and chase squirrels. Zoe is a vital member of our family and we love her dearly."

Submitted on June 20, 2008 Adopter: Lynne B. Boxer's Name: Gracie aka Capri (March 2007)
"Our
beloved Gracie has been with us over a year and she is the queen of our house!
She is just like a two year old child and requires a lot of attention. We put a
little bell on her collar so we can keep track of her! Her favorite thing is
going for a ride in the truck, which she does daily. All we have to do is pick
up the keys and she starts dancing around, ready to go. Gracie also loves to
chase the garden hose, running in circles until she flops down, finally tired.
It is a fun way to water the lawn!
In the year she has been with us, her personality has bloomed. When she first
came to us, she was timid and lacked energy. Wow has she changed. She is now
full of life, affectionate and loaded with energy. Bill is bathed with Boxer
kisses when he walks in the door, even if he was only gone for 5 minutes. After
our beloved Bonnie went to Heaven we did not think we could ever love a dog as
much. But Gracie has happily proved us wrong. She is our special girl, our
constant companion. Our vet, Dr. Ralph Raymond, says we have spoiled her. He is
probably right! Thank you for bringing her into our life. We are sending a
donation to help your work so other families can have the love of a Boxer!"
Submitted on June 27, 2008 Adopter: Denise P. Boxer's Name: Bella (July 2005)
"My son worked with a family who had Boxers for pets. He spent many months trying to convince us that we needed one too. After much pleading and even bringing one of the family's Boxers to visit us we decided that maybe we did need a Boxer. Once we made the decision and had our home visit we waited and searched for a match for us. It didn't happen. We were getting discouraged and about to give up when we saw Bella on the FBR site. We adopted Bella from FBR in July 2005. She is the sweetest bundle of joy we could have ever found. We fell so in love with her that we wanted a second Boxer. We adopted Levi from Alabama Boxers in November 2005. They are our babies and oh so spoiled. Now we wonder how we could have gone so long without having Boxers in our home. Bella and Levi have added so much joy and love to our lives."

Submitted on June 29, 2008 Adopter: Carrie & Vince T. Boxer's Name: Buddy (2004)
"We adopted Buddy in 2004. He was so sad and skinny (35 pounds) when we first saw him. My husband thought I was nuts when I asked if we could take him home. We took him home from the kennel and right away we knew he was a perfect fit. Buddy was so sweet to our baby kitten, Tyson (I swear she was named after the chicken). A few months later we took in another kitten, Boo. Boo hated Buddy, but Buddy didn't care. Buddy made sure they became friends and now they really are the best of friends.
Sadly, Buddy had so many stomach issues and we think he was abused by a male figure. The first few months were really hard for all of us. I couldn't get Buddy to eat and when I did he was so ill. Buddy was terrified of my husband, especially when he wore a hat. It took some time, but we eventually figured out that Buddy is allergic to regular dog food. We also earned his trust and love; he no longer fears men or hats.
Buddy is now a beautiful 72 pound Boxer. He has all of your typical Boxer wiggles, dances and snores. He is obedient, but only after he thinks about your request. LOL. He loves to sleep in, play fetch, cuddle with the cats and run around with the neighborhood kids. He is terrified of swimming and little dogs (who would have thought). He protects our front door, but kisses everyone that comes in. Buddy is the best dog and we feel so blessed we found him through FBR. Thank you so very much."
Submitted on July 1, 2008 Adopter: Stephanie W. Boxer's Name: Daisy (2002) & Scooby (2003)
"We have had Daisy and Scooby for over 5 years and it has been wonderful. They are absolutely the best dogs!!! They are now very well traveled as they go on frequent road trips and have been all over the U.S. with us. They both still act like puppies even though they are 7 years old."
Submitted on July 3, 2008 Adopter: Chris & Kursten C. Boxer's Name: Tebow aka Diesel (2007)
"Hey this is Tebow here. My parents changed my name from Diesel 'cause they are huge Florida Gator fans and now they call me "Tebow the tiger" cause of my tiger stripes. I am one of Minnie Me and Weezer's pups. I just wanted to thank FBR for giving me my furever home. I absolutely love it here. My older sis, Rubie, has shown me the ropes and has tried to keep me in line. My favorite thing to do is lizard hunt out in my new backyard, and pounce on mommy's new flowers. :) My grandma and grandpa have a Boxer named Lovey that comes over to play too. All three of us get along great.
Lot's of slurps,
Tebow"

Submitted on July 3, 2008 Adopter: Steven & Michelle S. Boxer's Name: Cocoa (2007)
"Greetings from Cocoa! We are having such a good time here. My mommy and daddy play with me every day, and when we get done I climb into my spot on the couch. I have this two leg-ed sister that we cuddle up at night together for bed. I have been so excited that soon I will have another two leg-ed sister here. After the house gets quiet at night mommy and I have cuddle time, I put my head near her belly( just until I feel the baby move ). I am so happy here with my family. I just wanted to give an update on me and say hello, oh and my family says hello too.
Love, Cocoa"
Submitted on July 7, 2008 Adopter: Tracy B. Boxer's Name: Mickei (2006)
"Mickei aka Mickei dee doo dah, (his official name), came to me from the Orlando region. I had lost my white Boxer George a year prior, and it broke my heart. Nothing compares to the love and friendship a Boxer gives and needs. My two rug rats Jack and Laila who were also adopted from the SPCA after the hurricanes of 04, came to meet Mickei at his foster home. It was instant love at first sight. They played for hours. Now that Mickei, Jack, Laila and my two cats (Max and Felix), who think they are dogs, are all settled in, I have one large very happy family.
Being single, the pets in my life, make my life, so I thank FBR for finding me my Mickei. He is a fancy brindle and thinks he is a poodle! Lapdog all the way. He is my big bouncy Boxer and I love him to death!"

Submitted on July 9, 2008 Adopter: Heather D. Boxer's Name: Vesta (2008)
"We couldn't be happier to have Vesta as part of our family! Within the first two days she acted like she has been here with us her whole life. She is a perfect match for us. We love her so much and she's even starting to grow on our two cats. We love her Boxer wiggles and kisses. We are having a great time spoiling her, which I'm sure she doesn't mind one bit. She seems truly happy in her new forever home. Thank you FBR!!!"

Submitted on July 16, 2008 Adopter: Chrissy B. Boxer's Name: Linus aka Riley (2008)
"Hello there, my husband and I adopted Linus (Marlie) a few months ago and have just had a great experience with him! We noticed the website and wanted to send pictures. Linus is such a cuddle bug! We have thoroughly enjoyed him and are so glad we have him in our family! Also if there is anyway could you forward these pictures and my email to Valerie (don't know her last name) she was Linus' foster mom and I wanted her to know he is happy in his new home! Thanks again!! Have a great day."

Submitted on July 19, 2008 Adopter: Tammy A. Boxer's Name: Ernest T. Bass (2006)
"Ernest T.
Bass has been such a joy for us these past 2 years. He loves taking long walks
with me, visiting with the neighbors, playing outside and hoping someday he
won't be so aggressive around other dogs. He loves being a typical Boxer and
really does think he is a lap dog. As I type this, he is curled up on his mat
and snoring away.
Thank you so much for giving this lovely dog to us and we wish we could do more
to help out. Thanks again, Glenn and Tammy A."

Submitted on July 24, 2008 Adopter: Lisa A. Boxer's Name: Cassius (2002)
"Cassius Clay was my first rescue as a FBR volunteer in 2002. I already had an 8 month old Boxer puppy named Jake, so I only intended to foster Cass until a great home was found for him through the rescue. I put a beautiful picture and bio on the website for him and settled in to care for "my boys!!" I distinctly remember getting an email about 2 weeks later from another volunteer saying someone was interested in him and wanted to come see him...my eyes welled up with tears immediately and I said "NO...I can't let him go!!!"
He has been with Jake and I since the July 4th weekend of 2002 and we couldn't be happier!!! He is a beautiful brindle color and ALL Boxer!!!! HE IS "the clown of the dog fraternity" as they say, with all his jumps and wiggles, snuffles and snuggles, farts and snorts!! My favorite thing is the way he has taught his brother to use the side of the couch or bed as a napkin after each meal!!!!
He has an amazing ability to win people over because of his fabulous, goofy personality...even if they don't like dogs!!! He and Jake (and at one time their sister Daisy) make each day more than worth waking up for...
Jake is undergoing chemotherapy right now and I believe his big brother is a huge part of why he is doing so well...Cass is always there to wrestle, play tug, or snuggle with him to help maintain a sense of normalcy and familiarity when Jake isn't feeling well. I know they miss each other when they are apart. Keeping Cass was one of the best decisions I've ever made...he is 8 years old now and happy and healthy!!!
I am thankful everyday for FBR bringing this wonderful furkid into my life!
PS. I am so proud to see that a picture of my fur kids is on this great website...they are the three dogs pictured in the middle of the adoption page with the info about fostering!!!! In order from left to right is Daisy, Jake and Cass!!! So cute!!!!"

Submitted on July 29, 2008 Adopter: Nick & Tim Boxer's Name: Junior (2008)
"Junior
came to us suddenly on May 21st, 2008 through a C.U.R. (Canine Underground
RailRoad) arrangement.
He had been born on March 12th, missing most of his front left paw. The breeder
(of sorts) kept him 13 weeks (for which we are very grateful) even though he/she
was told by partner/spouse, that the Boxer puppy would not garner the high price
expected, with such a birth defect. After losing our ten year old Boxer Jake (to
cancer, about the very time Junior was born)
our 4 year old female Boxer Gabriella, began to isolate and was obviously
lonely. We started to look daily at the FLBR availables. Just after we had our
first visit/interview with a foster mom and an adorable almost grown male.....we
heard about the little boy we would eventually call Junior, named for Jacob
William Jingleheimer Senior, "Jake."
After seeing THREE Veterinarians, including a gifted Orthopaedic surgeon, we got
the green light to officially adopt, being told that the foot/leg/paw should
grow nicely with the others, and shouldn't be a big problem in the future.....So
Junior is with his forever family. He had already grown by leaps and bounds, and
has sailed through his neutering and microchipping!
He chows like each meal was the last, steals and runs and kisses...and digs very
large holes with his so-called birth defect...He's our Monster-Baby, and his big
sister has loved him from day one...needs to know where he is at all times, and
keeps Poppa and Daddy informed. As we approach August, he is still growing."

Submitted on August 9, 2008 Adopter: Lisa and Greg Boxer's Name: Buddy aka Shook (July 2008)
"Buddy was our most recent foster dog. I picked him up as an owner surrender and he had been in a few different homes in his life already and deserved to be with a family that would not let him down again. After a few inquiries from our area coordinators about homes for Buddy, I realized that I couldn't let him go. He was already home! I was a little concerned about his size, 88 lbs, since Lily (our first foster flunkie adopted Oct. 2005) is only 50 lbs. He has some issues with bigger dogs but every day he is getting better at meeting new dogs. He and Lily and our 13 year old chihuahua get along like he's been here from day one. Buddy even loves our cat. The cat unfortunately does not feel the same but does trust him enough to not run and hide when he walks by. Buddy is fantastic with people, does not jump up, will do just about anything you ask. He already knew how to sit, stay, lay down, and roll over almost perfectly when we got him. He loves to go for walks and out in the boat. He and Lily run and play through out the house every morning. It is so cute how gentle he is with her. Everyone that meets Buddy absolutely loves him. So, once again we are proud to say we flunked! Buddy is around 6 years of age and for the rest of his life he will know what it means to have his own forever family. We will continue to foster and do cur runs and events whenever we can. Thank You FBR again for completing our family."

Submitted on August 13, 2008 Adopter: Carla & James Boxer's Name: Merci aka Calypso (August 2008)
"Merci is
coming along so well. She is still skittish at some noises and with people. We
have noticed it to be especially males. She has taken well to her new crazy
brother Apollo. She didn't really know her name so we decided since we have a
Greek God in the house we should have a Goddess and renamed her Calypso. She is
such a love. She made herself at home the very first day she jumped up on the
oversized footstool & made that her napping spot. Then at bedtime she jumped
right on the bed & curled up. Talk about fun - a 60 lb Boxer and a 90 lb Boxer
sleeping with you.
She started
a puppy training class to help with her shyness (the instructor said she could
qualify since she has puppy social skills). She does indeed do the Boxer kidney
bean dance when you come home & has now started running around the house like
the Indy 500 & picks up a toy while running and flings it in the air. As the old
ad used to say "you've come along way baby."
That's all for now.
Kisses, Boxer hugs & treats,
Carla, James, Apollo & Calypso"

October 20, 2008 ~ "Just wanted to let you know Calypso (Merci) is doing great - she is getting less skittish everyday and enjoys the dog park & puppy class (even though she isn’t a puppy the trainer let her in the puppy class to help with socialization). She still is unsure about playing like a Boxer when her brother tries to play with her as she gives him that bark of 'hey no monkey business.' All in all she is doing great and we are going to Boxer Bash on Saturday. That’s the latest scoop. Hope all is great in your world."
